Warsaw : Launch of a tender for 123 new trams

ZTM Warszawa, Warsaw public transport company, launched on February 3rd a tender for the acquisition of 213 new trams with an estimated value of PLN 2.3 billion (€538 million). The contract comprises a firm order for 123 vehicles with a single option for 90 more.

The base order includes 85 bidirectional and 18 unidirectional trams, which will be 33m long, as well as 20 24m-long vehicles. The option is exclusively for 33m-long vehicles with 45 unidirectional and 45 bidirectional units.

Successful pilot training programme in Warsaw paves the way for next editions. 

As part of the development of the activities of the UITP Centre for Training, a new programme on electric buses has been designed on basis of the experience gathered with the EU funded ZeEUS project. A first pilot edition has taken place in Warsaw on 7-8 April and given its success, the UITP Centre for Training is pleased to announce the launch of a second longer edition to take place on 26-28 September 2016 in Geneva!


ZTM Warsaw joins UITP!

UITP welcomes among its members the biggest transport authority in the CEEC region.

The Public Transport Authority (ZTM) is an administrative entity of the capital city of Warsaw. It organizes and supervises public transport in Warsaw as well as the on the area of the 30 neighboring municipalities. ZTM handles the purchasing of transport services from municipal carries and private operators. It also monitors the quality of their performance on a current basis.


Warsaw to heavily invest in urban rail projects

Warsaw agglomeration will spend €6bn in railway-oriented projects by 2022.

The Letter of Intent in this regard was signed in early November between the City of Warsaw, Polish State Railways PKP S.A. and national rail track maintenance company PKP PLK S.A. The portfolio of planned investments as declared by the partners will include new train stops and stations, integration of rail with urban public transport and higher frequency of travel. All projects, with a total value of €6bn are said to be completed by 2022.
