UITP welcomes among its members the biggest transport authority in the CEEC region.
The Public Transport Authority (ZTM) is an administrative entity of the capital city of Warsaw. It organizes and supervises public transport in Warsaw as well as the on the area of the 30 neighboring municipalities. ZTM handles the purchasing of transport services from municipal carries and private operators. It also monitors the quality of their performance on a current basis.
ZTM is responsible for planning the public transport routes and setting up time tables for them. Moreover, it handles the preparation of a tariff system, the sale of tickets, ticket monitoring as well as the collection of fees for riding without a valid ticket. It looks after the tariff integration between public transport and railway carriers (the Common Ticket offer). The Public Transport Authority also manages the stop infrastructure. It conducts investment activities entailing the development of the Warsaw metro, the construction of Park and Ride parking lots, as well as the modernisation of the loops and transfer hubs. ZTM organises and manages the Warsaw Public Bicycle system and is planning to start up carsharing.
The Public Transport Authority is also a member of the European Metropolitan Transport Authorities (EMTA).
